COACH AL COLEMAN

PROGRAM DIRECTOR /

16U GIRLS GRAY

Coach Al founded Team Runovo 5 years ago and has been coaching for over 15 years.  He was the varsity boys head coach at Christian Life Academy in San Diego, CA for two seasons and head assistant coach at Westview High School in San Diego, CA for two seasons.  Coach Al spent many years putting on youth basketball camps with notable NBA players.  He also conducted skills training sessions with players from high school to professional levels.  A Houston native, he played 4 years on Varsity at Alief Hastings, was recruited and played 4 years of collegiate basketball at the University of Texas in Austin, setting a record for most 3-pointers in a game (10) both at UT and for the Big 12 with the school record still standing, then went on to play professionally over seas.  He graduated from UT in 1997 with a degree in Communications. Coach Al currently works in Human Resources and has been married to his wife Erin for 22 years and has 4 daughters. 

COACH PRINCE EZULIKE

16U BOYS GRAY/

DIRECTOR OF PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

Coach Prince Ezulike is currently in his 4th year as head coach for the Fort Bend Christian JV boys basketball team and is an assistant varsity coach. This will be his 4th season with Runovo. Coach Prince is our in-house coaching guru. He is our go-to when it comes to practice drills, offensive and defensive concepts. Since 2015, he has trained and taught kids the game both privately and for the YMCA.  He played a year of collegiate basketball at St. Petersburg College in Florida before moving to Houston.  Coach Prince graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Supply Chain and Logistics.  As a coach, his heart is to develop the players to be the best they can be on and off the court.  Coach Prince is a wonderful coach who will push the players to be their best. He currently works at Step Charter School and is the 4th and 5th grade math teacher.

COACH NICOLE EVERS

12U GIRLS GRAY

Coach Nicole grew up in the basketball loving state of Indiana and in high school went to two state finals. She then went on to play college basketball at the University of Akron and was the shortest Division 1 player in the country. She still holds a few three point shooting records. She then went on to coach at Valparaiso high school for a couple of seasons. Coach Evers and husband, LJ, have lived in Houston with their 6 kids and are  full-time missionaries that serve the refugee community of Houston. She loves the game of basketball and the girls will learn a lot from her!

COACH KALVIN (SCOOTER) LEWIS

OPERATIONS MANAGER & COACH

Coach Kalvin (Scooter) Lewis is currently in his first season as an Assistant Coach at Southern Arkansas University. Last year he spent 9 months coaching with overseas professional teams in Iceland. Coach Scooter has been coaching 8 years starting at Fort Bend Christian Academy. Before beginning his coaching career, Coach Skooter played 4 years of collegiate basketball at Missouri Baptist University in Saint Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Missouri Baptist in May 2015 with a degree in Physical Education.  A native of Houston and graduate of John Foster High School in 2009, Coach Scooter brings a wealth of basketball experience and knowledge to our program.  His father and mentor, Kevin Lewis, played in the NBA and coached at the D1 college level for many years. Coach Skooter is a great coach and a better man! Our boys and girls always enjoy learning from him. He has a way of explaining advanced concepts simple for players to understand.

COACH KAMERON BAZILE

16U BOYS GRAY

Coach Kameron Bazile has been coaching/mentoring kids from ages 6-17 in both sports and academics for over 5 years. He has had the opportunity to coach at the YMCA of Greater Houston and currently works for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston as an Club Director. He attends Wharton County College and will soon transfer to the University of Houston for a degree in Education. His heart is to teach the next generation to-come the fundamentals of basketball. He has mentored hundreds of kids in the Houston area, encouraging the youth to strive for greatness. Our players will certainly value his leadership, mentorship, and solid understanding of the game of basketball.  

COACH SAM KENNEY

12U BOYS GRAY

Coach Sam Kenney is in his 3rd year with Runovo. He went to Houston Baptist University and received his degree in Kinesiology. He enjoys watching the game of basketball and especially enjoys watching college basketball. His favorite team is UH because of how well they play as a team and their understanding of the game. Currently, Coach Sam works with students at Fort Bend Christian Academy and also coached the Boys Freshmen Team at FBCA for three successful seasons. He also served as the film coordinator for the boys varsity team. As a coach and teacher, his heart is set on helping players to understand the game, to teach the benefits of working hard, and working together as a team. The value of being a coach is an honor to Coach Sam and he will do his best to encourage and challenge the team to play at an high level. 

COACH KE'NEAN JOHNSON

16U GIRLS GRAY ASSISTANT

Coach Ke'Nean Johnson is in his second season coaching with Runovo. He is a Houston Native. He played basketball and football throughout high school. He got his Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Sports Coaching from the University of Northern Colorado where he played rugby. Upon graduation Coach Ke'Nean pursued his passion of coaching and coached middle school football and basketball before moving back to Houston. Coach Ke'Nean is dedicated to helping players grow in their skill, knowledge and passion for the game.

COACH BROOKS CARTWRIGHT

13U BOYS GRAY

A Houston native, Coach Brooks is entering in his first season in our program. He captained the Fort Bend Christian Academy varsity team for 3 years under Coach Kalvin "Scooter" Lewis. As the point guard, he helped lead his team to a 32-4 season record which is the best in program's history. He earned three all-district selections and two academic all-states during his career. He went on to play a year of college basketball at Hendrix College, earning an honorable mention as freshman of the year before deciding to hang it up and focus on his studies. Coach Brooks was fortunate to have trained and played with and against countless collegiate and professional players which motivated him increase his skill level and IQ exponentially. His experience has instilled in him a desire to pass along the lessons he's learned from being around so many great players and philosophies to the next generation. He holds a deep belief in the transformational power that basketball can have in developing character, leadership, and life skills that translate into success both on and off the court. He is currently attending UH with a concentration in marketing. He has worked with the UH Athletics Marketing Program as a photographer for the Mens & Women’s basketball program as well as the baseball and softball teams.

COACH KEVIN LEWIS

SKILL DEVELOPMENT COACH & RECRUITER

Coach Kevin Lewis is starting his first year with Runovo. We are excited to add him to our coaching staff. He has over 30 years of playing and coaching experience. before beginning his coaching career, he played for the SMU Mustangs. SMU at one point ranked #2 in the country. Coach Lewis was a 4 year letterman and received multiple honors and achievements while leading the Mustangs to very successful seasons. Following his collegiate career, Coach Lewis was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the 1986 NBA draft. He also played for the Dallas Mavericks and professionally in Australia. After his playing career, Coach Lewis served as the head coach at Episcopal High School where led the team to back-to-back SPC championships. After his time at Episcopal, he served as the head coach for the Homeschool Christian Youth Association (HYCA), before joining the collegiate ranks. Coach Lewis served as assistant coach at the University of New Mexico, Baylor University, Texas Christian University (TCU), and the University of Houston respectively. We are honored to have Coach Lewis on our staff. He is amazing at developing players and his vast coaching experience and knowledge of the game will be a great benefit to our program.
